What Neuro‐Linguistic Programming (NLP) Can Do for You

Most of us want to give our all to our career of choice. We aim high and have to be taken seriously. Sometimes this pressure to compete can overwhelm us and be a detriment to our emotional health. A form of psychological training has gained traction over the past few decades with corporations and therapists, and is one I employ as a soul and strategy business coach. This method is known as Neuro‐Linguistic Programming (NLP). Founded in 1979, NLP has helped professionals and workers struggling with low self-esteem, depression, PTSD, anxiety and stress.

Neuro‐Linguistic Programming helps you reverse-engineer the best version of yourself. It maps out why you think, feel and act the way you do. This allows you to identify negative patterns, as well as what does work and how to reinforce those positive behaviors. NLP helps you communicate with yourself and find the answers within. It empowers you to write your own personal and professional user’s guide and become more effective and efficient.

When I work with someone, they may begin to recognize negative emotions and limiting decisions they have made. At that point, we can use NLP techniques to remove them. I also use NLP to help them articulate what might be causing those emotions, to help them hear that inner voice that could be causing a distraction or a diversion to their plans. Discovering the feelings or beliefs associated with that internal communication can lead to significant breakthroughs.

NLP is for people seeking a holistic approach, finding the connection between thought, speech and actions. If you have found yourself in a pattern that isn’t working for you and aren’t sure how to change it, NLP can be very effective. Whether you’re starting a new venture, aiming for a promotion, or just want to be a stronger leader or communicator, see what an NLP session can do for you and your goals.
