It’s a good day to be happy! International Day of Happiness is March 20 and is recognized by the United Nations. Happiness is considered an important human goal that everyone wants.

Here are some facts about the International Day of Happiness:

  • The United Nations started International Day of Happiness on July 12, 2012.
  • The United Nations recognizes happiness as a “fundamental human goal” and “a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and well-being of all peoples.”
  • There is laughter yoga in Hong Kong, and Happy Flash Mobs gather in London on this day.
  • The idea of International Day of Happiness started in 1972 with King Jigme Singye Wangchuck saying that a country’s progress should be measured.

Some things that you can do for International Day of Happiness:

  • Try to make more positive connections with other people.
  • Be more social.
  • Take a photo of something you enjoy.
