The podcast space has exploded with rich content over the past few years. In particular, many accomplished women are now creating their own podcasts, from celebrities to motivational speakers to business owners.
International Podcast Day is September 30, and in celebration of this day, I encourage you to listen to a podcast, made by women for other women.
If you’re looking for suggestions on what to add to your podcast playlist, here are six inspiring women’s podcasts that I believe every woman should listen to.
Mel Robbins, the motivational speaker who went viral from a TEDx Talk, is the perfect person to help you get out of a rut.
Her podcast focuses on content to help you level up: from tips on improving productivity, finding purpose and motivation, to expert advice on health and aging. She also provides inspiring content for older women who are searching for meaning as they enter the next chapter of their lives.
Mel speaks in a very no-nonsense way, like a tough fairy godmother whose mission is to shake you into action. She’s a great voice to listen to, on the days when you’re feeling uninspired and unmotivated.
2. Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
In this podcast series, the actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus interviews older and extremely accomplished women, who share the wisdom they have gained throughout their extensive careers.
Each episode is around an hour long, with fascinating insight into how each guest speaker has gotten to where they have in their career.
Julia has a fantastic voice that’s very soothing to listen to, and her natural and conversational interviewing style never fails to bring out the authenticity of her guests.
I also find her to be a very engaging storyteller. At the opening of each episode, she tells a personal story, a story capturing her vulnerability with glimpses of her childhood, and it always has me hooked for more.
This podcast is hosted by three women – Glennon Doyle, the author of Untamed, her wife Abby Wambach and her sister Amanda Doyle.
Together, these three women tackle the hard topics that touch on the female experience, such as sex, parenting, generational trauma, grief, addiction and self-love.
I love that they talk frankly and openly about their struggles. Many of their episodes touch on topics that make them uncomfortable and vulnerable but listening to these conversations can also show us what healing looks like.
This podcast is a great reminder to female listeners that we aren’t alone in the various issues we face.
4. Working Hard, Hardly Working
Created by Grace Beverley, an entrepreneur who had three businesses by the age of 27, this podcast delivers career and business advice to women.
Unlike other business podcasts, Grace interviews accomplished women from all walks of life, not just those who have achieved conventional success. These women aren’t afraid to get vulnerable about the challenges they’ve faced, and the difficult lessons they’ve had to learn along the way.
Beyond the inspiring and motivating career advice it provides, I love how this podcast also unpacks what success actually looks like to female listeners navigating their careers.
Hosted by money expert Victoria Devine, this podcast aims to help women improve their financial literacy.
With advice on investing, saving, budgeting and starting side hustles, Victoria demystifies various financial topics that women are not always expected to excel in. She also examines money topics that are relevant to women, such as unpacking how we spend on beauty and fast fashion.
This is an excellent podcast that aims to empower women to gain financial freedom and control over their lives.
This is a sports podcast created by two women, Ellen Hyslop and Stephanie Rotz, who aren’t afraid to assert their place in the male-dominated world of sports.
These women report on news in various sports, such as the NFL and NBA, through a female lens.
They’re not afraid of calling out sexist sports news headlines and discussing the various issues facing women in the sports world. They also shine a spotlight on the lesser-covered women’s sports, such as the WNBA.
This is a great podcast for women interested in learning more about sports and improving their sports lingo. These women remind us that sports are not exclusively for men – women can also have a voice in this field.
Her Nexx Chapter invites you to join our free Community where women from around the world are connecting with each other’s stories, exploring different experiences, and transforming ideas.
