Her Nexx Chapter hosted a Workshop Facilitatores Panel June 23 to showcase not only its existing programs, but answer questions in real time from new faces and current coaches alike. Women with expertise in areas that speak to the needs of today’s woman. The ladies who attended the Zoom meeting ranged in location from Detroit to Denver and Bethesda to Brazil. Questions were previously submitted and read by the moderator, but others were asked and answered in real time.
To start off, people asked how to come out of the quarantine not only safe but stronger. Kia Wells, the Budget and Credit Coach and host of Her Sensible Budget suggested using the extra time to our advantage: whether it means creating a budget or a grocery list, there are things we can gain from having a bit more free time. Irum Rashid-Jones, a community leader, added that this is a perfect time to pare down on our subscriptions; some we may not be using at all and others may overlap.
Multiple questions were asked about starting up a business in these uncertain times, and the answers were twofold, the coaches responding both practically and personally. Career Coach Christine Horstman, host of Her Career Catalyst, suggested looking into many of the companies offering free learning tools during the pandemic. She also encouraged us to find what success means to us. Dr. J, the Parenting Coach, and host of Her Parenting Place, also said gratitude will get you far in business.
Jan Barlow, Entrepreneurship Coach, host of Her Own Business, talked about the importance of connecting, and possibly even using this free time to our advantage in doing so, while Dare Rosebery, Leader Development Coach and host of Her Leader Journey, explained that we need to know who we are and what our purpose is to get further in business ventures.
Nida Jawed, Mindful Life Coach and host of Her Mindful Bliss explained that there’s a difference between being a boss and a leader, and Cheron Griffin, Personal Life Development Coach and host of Her Spiritual Connection told us, “If you dream it, it’s yours.” Gratitude starts in the small moments and can grow over time rather than all at once.
What struck me the most about this conversation was the overwhelming positivity. This seemed especially strong because the message was not “when the world is back to normal” as much as it was “you can have a great life right now.” The world seems to be at a turning point, where there will be a clear “before COVID” and “after COVID.” But that doesn’t mean we have to sit paralyzed in fear through all the “during COVID” moments. There are still ways we can get involved, and still ways we can change the world, one woman at a time.
Our Her Nexx Chapter Community invites you to join us where women are connecting with each other’s stories, exploring different experiences, and transforming ideas.
