How to Reclaim Your Rhythm This February

Jan 31, 2022 | 0 comments

With the new year officially in full swing, we can now focus on our newfound goals and the causes near and dear to our hearts. As American Heart Month begins this February, all of us at Her Nexx Chapter, Inc. could not be happier to partner with the American Heart Association and help make a positive impact on heart and lung health and wellness. Whether you’re already part of the HNC community or you’re eager to embark on this journey with us for the new year, you can show your support for women’s heart health wherever you are all month long with these tips.

National Wear Red Day

Friday, February 4 is National Wear Red Day, the first and simplest way to kickstart American Heart Month. Whether it’s a shirt, coat, hat, pair of pants, or even shoes, wearing something red is the easiest way to show your support in raising awareness and fighting back against the No. 1 killer among women – cardiovascular disease. However, wearing one article of red clothing isn’t the only way you can show your support on February 4. You can also share one heart-healthy habit you’ll be prioritizing for the rest of the month (or even the entire year), whether it’s getting some rest, managing stress, exercising, eating better, or anything else that works for you. By sharing our healthy habits, we can encourage our mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, friends, and anyone else we know and love to follow in our footsteps and take a stand with us.

If you don’t have anything red in your closet, you can visit shopheart.org or you can find National Wear Red Day backgrounds and banners on WearRedDay.org to show your support. And if you’re still not sure how to spread the word, you can always post on social media with the hashtags #WearRedDay, #WearRedandGive, and #HeartMonth either alone or with the women you care about and show the ways you’re reclaiming your rhythm.

Open Your Heart: Open Your Wallet

One easy way to raise awareness (if you’re financially able to do so) is to donate to the American Heart Association by starting your own donation page on WearRedDay.org and creating an account (if you don’t already have one) or logging in with your Facebook profile. You can add personalized photos, videos, stories, and updates at any time and share the link to your loved ones and encourage them to share it on their social media accounts as well. Any amount helps make a difference in fighting back against the biggest global silent killer that is heart disease and stroke.

Raise Your Voice and Raise Awareness

Whenever you post during American Heart Month, show how much it means to you by sharing why you’re so passionate about this cause. Whether it’s your personal story or the story of a loved one that inspired you to take a stand, you can save someone’s life and help one less person feel alone in their battles against heart disease. You’ll also let your friends and loved ones know that it’s okay to speak up and ask as many questions as they can to better their health. Whether it’s through a personal anecdote, dance video, song, or even just a simple photo of you wearing a red shirt, it’s important to do anything you can do to spread awareness for heart health.
